You are not required to have a learners permit to start the class but you will have to get a learners permit before you start the behind-the-wheel sessions.

Yes, all new drivers reguardless of age must complete a certified driver education course to get a license. The course consists of 30 Hours of classroom instruction and 6 Hours Behind-the-Wheel instruction. Additional or remedial instruction can be added to the course for students in need. (Not included in basic course additional fees apply)

The program requires new drivers to gain more driving experience with a supervising driver.
